Aerial tramway

In the summer and autumn months, the Sahli-Glattalp aerial tramway takes you up to the Glattalp at over 1850 meters above sea level.

The aerial tramway belongs to the ebs Energie AG, who uses it for maintenance work on their electric power plant facilities. The cable car is also used for tourist purposes. Experts regularly check it for its safety.

The aerial tramway consists of one cabin and can transport a maximum of 8 people per ride. One ride there and back takes 15 minutes.

Extreme temperatures

On 7 February 1991, -53.5°C was measured on the Glattalp. The Glattalp therefore belongs to the coldest places in Switzerland. In winter, the lowest temperature regularly falls below -40°C and snow depths can exceed 5 meters (5.5 meters on 12 March 1975).
